Agencies (Qasioun) - A seven-year-old boy in Mumbai has miraculously survived after his mother flung him from the roof of a 15-storey building, along with his sister, before committing suicide herself in India’s biggest city.
Taufik Khan is in hospital with severe injuries to his head and spine after the murder-suicide at the weekend. His sister Amrin, 4, died at the scene.
Shirin Khan, 27, bluffed her way past security at the building under construction in the satellite town of Thane, claiming she wanted to view an apartment to buy on the spot. She led her children to the roof before hurling them off and jumping to her death.
The woman’s husband Hanif has told police he did not know why his wife would have taken such a drastic step. Investigators said the family was not in financial difficulties.
